Keeping Photos Safe

If only we had a dragon to guard our photos

Sometimes the hardest thing to do when you edit photos is that first step. You have a great camera and wonderful photos and a computer but how do you move them to a safe place? Most cameras do come with instructions on how to transfer photos from that camera but they are sometimes had to follow. Because all cameras are slightly different I'm going to give you a generic help link for the readers and the visuals.

I hope these help but if not you can check in with me and stay after class for a in person session.

You can use the organization systems on your computer mentioned in the video or you can make your own file system an earlier post stated with this link.

Once you have the photos on your computer you have to keep them safe I usually have 2-3 places one is on the computer the other is on a cd or dvd and the last is online, you never know when your computer might crash. Here are some options there are also many "off site" storage places that are on line and can be accessed anywhere you have Internet examples are Picasa, snapfish, flicker, and more some people even use facebook.

warning when posting items online remember many people will be able to see it. Never post pictures with information like SS#, checks, ID, nudes, etc. Think of the Internet as a public place with friends strangers and thieves roaming about and keep important information safe.
